Bundublog.com would like to give a big up to Ryan Gibson, Caryl Regnault and all those involved in the organising of the “Tweet-up” at Mythos in Sandton last night.
We were pretty skeptical about what we would get out of the event – I’m always concerned about these “IT geek” functions. There is nothing worse than a bunch of geeks getting on their ear with excesses of tequila.
The reality is that it was a fantastic event. The audience included bankers, business analysts, musicians, start-up entrepreneurs, consultants, journalists (shiver) and techies. For somebody like me who is not a natural networker, there were a lot of positives and apart from winning a Poken, I made some useful contacts.
Another thing which I thought was emphasised for me is that while technology is a great enabler to make contacts, the process of actually meeting people and in a casual setting over a beer or a bottle of wine remains a great way to grow your professional network.
Good job guys – I’ll definately be at the next event!
